Rakugo in Bulgaria

I performed Rakugo and gave a talk about Japanese culture at the University of Sofia in Bulgaria. The audience at the Rakugo show was fantastic. Everyone was so warm and welcoming and their enthusiasm was clear as soon as I went on stage. I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
This was my first visit to Bulgaria and I have fallen in love with the country and people. I started out in Sofia and then travelled to the old town of Plovdiv and on to Bansko, which is a beautiful ski town during the winter but is equally gorgeous in summer. Stunning scenery everywhere.

I was taken very good care of by the friend I was staying with and her family. It felt like a mini homestay. They instinctively knew exactly what I would enjoy seeing and doing. I was a performer, a tourist, a photographer and a strange English girl in kimono in Bulgaria. Good times. Whenever I go out in kimono, I make friends very easily. Ha ha.
