Rakugo in English at Hanjotei.

Every summer, Katsura Kaishi and I perform a Summer Holiday Rakugo in English at the Hanjotei Rakugo Theatre in Osaka. There's always a good turnout and the audiences are always great. This year, we were joined by Katsura Asakichi.
We had a morning show and an evening show. We opened by introducing the musical instruments that are played during a Rakugo show. I was the MC and we introduced the taiko drum - played by Hayashiya Somehachi, the flute - played by Katsura Asakichi, the shamisen - played by Toyota Kumiko and the kane (gong) - played by Katsura Kaishi.
I performed the classic tale (koten Rakugo) 'Chiri-tote-chin' for the first time. I've been wanting to perform it for a while. It's a fun story and the audience made it even more fun.
It's difficult for me to stay indoors and rehearse on sunny summer days because I love to be outside, but it was worth it.
After the evening show, we went to a local restaurant for a little uchiage (after party) and then a friend picked me up and we drove to Mie prefecture to camp by a beautiful river. Our other friends were already there and had set up camp. We had a little drink and I fell asleep to the sounds of nature.
The perfect end to a satisfying day.
